CUTE PAINTER

SUPPLIES NEEDED: PSP any version should work. Font of choice. I am using a PTU Font called Inspiration that you can purchase here if you wish Tube of choice, I am using the PTU amazing artwork of Eugene Rzhevskii of Pics For Design. Please do not use the same image without a license.
SUPPLIES INCLUDED: here Tubes: paint drips, paint brushes in can, scissors, paint jars, easel, artwork kids, pencils Mask: WSL_Mask152; montiblindsmask1 Texture: Paint Blotches Kathy butler Plugin: AAA filters, textures
NOTES: I did this tutorial using PSP X4 but it can easily be done in any version. This tutorial is at a beginner to intermediate level but assumes you have If you are using a different tube, you may wish to colorize the supplied Paint Place the "Paint Blotches " image into your Patterns folder. Before opening your PSP program, unzip the supplied AAA plugin filter into your My PSP Files/Plugin-in folder Most important SAVE your work often. I will be reminding you to do
Lets get started: STEP 1 File, open both mask images and minimize them both for later use File, New, 650 X 622, transparent checked Flood fill tool, flood fill with white #ffffff Layers, new raster layer Flood fill with a colour from your tube. I used #8e94ab Layers, New Mask layer, from image. Select montiblindsmask1 from the drop down box. Check mark in Source luminance Check mark in Invert Mask data NO check marks in the rest of the boxes Click OK
Layers, merge, merge group. Click yes if prompted Close out the Montiblindsmask1 mask image now as it is no longer needed.
STEP 2 Layers, new raster layer Flood fill with white #ffffff Effects, texture effects, Sculpture Click on the pattern box and browse to the Paint Blotches texture and use Color white #ffffff Click OK
Adjust, Blur, Motion Blur with these settings Angle 221, Strength 100 Layers, New Mask layer, from image This time, choose WSL_Mask152 from the drop down box Check mark in Source luminance NO check marks in the rest of the boxes Click OK
Layers, merge, merge group. Click yes if prompted Close out the WSL_Mask152 now as it is no longer needed.
STEP 3 Still on the Sculptured merged mask layer Effects, Plugins, AAA Filters, Textures with these settings Intensity 5, no check mark in border Click OK
Reduce opacity of this layer to 63%
STEP 4 File, open the easel image Edit, copy, close out Edit, paste as a new layer File, Open the Artwork Kids image,Edit, copy, close Edit, paste as new layer Mover tool, move the Artwork Kids image over the easel so that it appears
Layers, merge, merge down Effects, 3D effects, drop shadow Horizontal and vertical 2, Opacity 50, Blur 5, colour Black #00000, shadow on new layer NOT checked OR choose settings to your liking. I often vary the drop shadow settings, on the same tag, depending on the image and the look I am after
STEP 5 File, Open your main tube Image Edit, copy, close Edit, paste as a new layer Image, resize, 31% (if you are using the same image I did) and/or otherwise, resize, if necessary, to suite your taste Resize all layers NOT checked Mover tool, move your main tube to your liking in front of the easel This is how mine looks so far
Effects, 3D effects, Drop shadow Horizontal and vertical 2, Opacity 50, Blur 5, colour Black #00000, shadow on new layer NOT checked OR, again, choose settings to your liking. This is what my layer pallet looks like now
SAVE YOUR WORK
STEP 6 File, open the remaining tubes supplied, paint drips, paint brushes in can, scissors, paint jars, pencils Activate one tube image at a time and Edit, copy, close Edit, paste as a new layer Follow the same steps as above to copy each of the tubes you just opened and then paste as a new layer on your working canvas This is what my layer pallet looks like now
STEP 7 Highlight each of the element layers in turn, Scissors, brushes in can and paint drips etc and apply the following drop shadow Effects, 3D effects, drop shadow Horizontal and vertical 2, Opacity 50, Blur 5, colour Black #00000, shadow on new layer NOT checked OR choose settings to your liking. All the same drop shasdow setting should still be there SAVE YOUR WORK
STEP 8 Mover tool, move each of the elements on their own layers to place them to your liking. (TIP) Holding down the SHIFT key while using the mover tool will allow only the objects on the highlighted layer to move.
STEP 9 Text tool, choose font of choice. Add your name with colours and formatting of choice or follow the steps below to create the text as shown in my result. Layers, new vector layer Materials pallet, Set Background to white #ffffff (we will be changing the color in a later step) These are the settings I used. It may vary for you depending on the size of your name and font used. Font Inspiration, Size 100 pixels, Anti-Alias Smooth, Stroke width 0, Create as Vector,
Click on your canvas and type your name . Click ok or click on the green arrow to accept. Pick tool, move, stretch and rotate your name to your liking. Once you are happy with the way your name looks, go to next step
STEP 10 Layers, convert to raster layer Effects, Texture effects, Sculpture Click on the pattern box and browse to the paint blotches pattern (it should already be there) Change the size to 100 Leave all the other settings the same (or play with the settings to get the look you like) Click OK
Effects, 3D Effects, drop Shadow Horizontal and vertical 2, Opacity 50, Blur 5, colour Black #000000, shadow on new layer NOT checked. Again, use your own settings if you prefer. Layers, new raster layer Add your watermark and the appropriate copyright credits Save your work as a jpeg for using as you like.
